NSW LEIP funding now open for industrial emissions reduction projects

13 May 2026

For many industrial sites, reducing energy use starts with simple, practical upgrades.

The NSW Government's Low Emissions Industry Program (LEIP) provides funding to help mining and manufacturing businesses implement proven solutions that reduce energy use and improve efficiency.

Backed by a $40 million funding pool, the program offers grants from $500,000 to $10 million per project. Applications close on 9 June 2026 at 11:00pm.

Who this program is suited for

The LEIP is designed for NSW mining and manufacturing facilities that report under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) scheme.

From a practical standpoint, it's a strong fit for sites that:

  • Are running older or inefficient equipment and looking to upgrade
  • Want straightforward improvements that can be implemented quickly
  • Are focused on reducing costs alongside emissions
  • Prefer proven, reliable solutions that don't disrupt operations

Safeguard facilities are not eligible to apply.

A practical way to reduce energy use on site

If you're looking to reduce emissions, compressed air is one of the easiest places to start.

For many facilities, it's also one of the biggest power users. That means even small improvements can deliver noticeable energy and cost savings.

What type of projects may be supported?

According to the NSW Government, eligible project types include:

  • Equipment upgrades and facility retrofits
  • Industrial process improvements
  • Waste heat recovery
  • Fuel switching and electrification

How our solutions fit in with LEIP

Oil-Free & Oil-Injected Compressors (SPR/WIS, CPVS)

Supports LEIP category: Fuel switching

  • Helps sites upgrade to more energy-efficient electric compressed air systems
  • Variable speed (CPVS) compressors adjust output to demand, reducing unnecessary energy use
  • Can deliver up to 40% energy savings compared to fixed-speed systems
  • Zero on-site combustion supports immediate emissions reduction

Energy Recovery Systems

Supports LEIP category: Waste heat recovery

  • Captures up to 90% of compressor energy and converts it into usable hot water
  • Helps reduce boiler load and fossil-fuel use
  • Instantly improves thermal efficiency

Compressed Air Optimisation & Monitoring (AIRchitect analysis, leak detection, ICONS monitoring)

Supports LEIP category: Facility retrofits

  • Reduces wasted energy across your compressed air system
  • Highlights issues such as leaks, pressure drops and inefficient operation
  • Supports verified, measurable emissions reduction outcomes

Where this makes the biggest difference

  • Sites running older or oversized compressors
  • Operations with changing air demand
  • Facilities looking for quick, practical improvements
  • Businesses wanting to reduce power costs without major disruptions

How we can help

We keep it simple and focus on:

  • Reviewing your current setup
  • Identifying where energy is being wasted
  • Recommend practical upgrade options
  • Estimate potential energy and cost savings

Explore your options before applications close

With applications closing on 9 June 2026, now is the time to identify practical projects that can reduce emissions and improve efficiency.

If you're already considering a compressed air upgrade, this is a good opportunity to move forward with support.
