What to do with your old compressor?

Just purchased a new compressor? Are you asking yourself, “Now what am I going to do with this old air compressor?”

Great news, you have options!

1. Your old compressor may have some life? Save it! Keep it as a backup compressor. If your business depends on compressed air, then a backup compressor is the key to always keeping you up and running. If your new compressor is due for maintenance, the backup compressor is there to keep your business running. Calculate how much your business generates per hour and calculate 8 hours of down time, it is worth having back up. 2. Old compressor still working? Sell it! Already have another backup compressor, then sell the old compressor on any social or online website like Craigslist or Ebay. There are even websites that repurpose old compressors. Remember, brand names matter, clean off your machine and take quality photos. If you put a little work in preparing for the photos, you’ll make more on the machine when posting. 3. Salvage the Parts. Salvage the old compressor for scrap. Many clients will separate the metals for better scrap value; steel, copper (electric motor), iron (pump), etc. Reuse the receiver/tank as additional air storage. 4. CP Distributors can help! Often your local CP distributor will take the machine for you. This will allow proper draining of the oil and disposal of the machine.
